How to repair a damaged SD card or pen drive

Nothing is worse than a damaged SD card or pen drive! You cannot access photos, video files, songs, and other data stored on the pen drive/SD card. The last thing you want is that your portable storage device is compromised by storing important files.


Relax, it is not the purpose; it is possible to repair the damaged SD card / pen drive! We have listed several ways to try to quickly repair a damaged SD card or pen drive. For SD cards, you can use the card reader / plug it into the slot provided in your computer. If it is a microSD card, use an adapter.
Tip: Ensure that began before stopping the repair process with a damaged pen drive or SD card, otherwise you may lose data.
A quick way to fix a damaged SD card pen drive 
Repair : on another PC on the test it
This is the easiest test. There may be a specific problem with the PC, not a memory card or pen drive. So connect the SD card or flash drive to another computer and see if it works. If so, then you can back up the data from it.
Fix : Change drive letter
Sometimes the computer will not be able to assign drive letters to storage media (such as D, E, F ...). For this reason, files cannot be accessed from the storage medium. So what should I do next?  


 You can assign a drive letter to your storage device. Yes, follow the steps below to fix a damaged SD card/pen drive by assigning a drive letter –
  • Connect your storage device to your computer
  • Right click on " This computer / My computer " and then click on " Manage "
  • Click on " Magnetic Disk Management " and then wait for Windows to load Virtual Disk Service
  • Now right click on your storage device and select " Change drive letter and path "
  • Click on the drive letter (it turns blue) and click on " Change "
  • Next select the drive letter from the drop-down list and click " OK "
Fix : Reinstall the driver
If the driver running the flash drive is corrupted, the computer will not be able to detect the storage device. In this case, you can reinstall the driver. Here is a guide to it –
  • Right click on " This Computer " or " My Computer " and select "Manage"
  • Click on " Device Manager "
  • Double-click on the list of " magnetic disk drives ." Next, right click on the name of the memory card / pen drive
  • Click the " unloading load " and then click " OK "
  • Disconnect your computer's storage media and restart the system
  • Now connect the storage device to your computer to see if it works.

You must be cautious about performing this procedure because this method forces a corrupted pen drive or memory card to be formatted.
  • Insert the SD card/pen drive into your computer
  • Go to the Start menu, then type " cmd " in the search bar and press the Enter key. Command Prompt window opens
  • Type " diskpart " in the window and press the enter key
  • Now type " list disk " and press the Enter key. A list of storage media connected to the system is displayed.
  • Type " the SELECT Disk < your magnetic disk number> " (for example, select disk 1), and then press ENTER
Warning: Be careful to enter the correct number. No the internal hard disk drive may be formatted. Again Enter List Disk " to check whether you correctly . )
  • Type " clean " and press the enter key
  • Next, type " create partition primary " and press the enter key
  • Type " active "
  • Type " select partition 1 "
  • Finally, type " format fs = fat32 " and press the enter key
 
The formatting operation will be completed within a certain period of time. If you want to format a drive larger than 4GB, write to NTFS instead of FAT32. Most importantly, do not close the window until the entire process is complete.
If you do not have a backup of the files in the SD card or pen drive, they will be lost after formatting. For  recovering images from a formatted SD card , you can use the Remo Recover (Windows / Mac) Media Edition tool. However, with these steps you can have a healthy card.
Once you have formatted the card or are unable to access it, try to recover the data from it. Never try to store any new files on it. This may completely erase your data. Once you recover data from these damaged drives, you can proceed with the repair process. These methods will definitely solve your SD card or pen drive problems.
