Media: Apple Thunderbolt Display with 5K resolution will receive an integrated graphics card
The disappearance of the 27-inch Thunderbolt Display
from the range of a number of Apple Store stores around the world has generated
rumors that the manufacturer plans to update the line of branded monitors.
Presumably, new models with a resolution of 5K will be presented in a week and a half at the international conference for developers WWDC 2016, which will be held in San Francisco.
Presumably, new models with a resolution of 5K will be presented in a week and a half at the international conference for developers WWDC 2016, which will be held in San Francisco.
According to bloggers Stephen Foskett and John Gruber,
the updated Thunderbolt Display can get its own video card, which will allow
you to connect the monitor to almost any Mac model. This assumption is
supported by the 9to5Mac publication, which reported that, according to rumors,
Apple is preparing a new monitor with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels and an
integrated video card. Most likely, to work with such a display, you need Mac
laptops with USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 support.
According to one of the most respected analysts, Apple
is unlikely to implement a graphics processor in the Thunderbolt Display, but
can imagine a monitor with a 5K resolution that will connect to the Mac via the
Thunderbolt 3 interface.
Presumably, Apple will not produce monitors with a
resolution of 5K until the Intel processors support DisplayPort 1.3 standard,
which will happen no earlier than in 1.5-2 years (release of 10-nm Intel
Cannonlake processors with support for DisplayPort 1.3 expected in the second
quarter of 2017). 5K monitors can be connected to a Thunderbolt 3-enabled
device, however, to work in 5120 x 2880 resolution, the display will have to be
connected using two DisplayPort version 1.2 cables.
Crysis 3 launched on Mac Pro and six 4K monitors (video)
A user with the nickname MrThaiBox123 posted a video
on Youtube with the configuration of the new Mac Pro and six 27-inch monitors,
demonstrating the performance of Crysis 3 in this assembly.
How to please a gamer in itself, and even try along
the way the capabilities of a new computer worth more than 100,000 rubles?
This question was asked by the Youtube user under the
nickname MrThaiBox123, deciding it radically: he connected six 27-inch monitors
to the new Mac Pro via the Thunderbolt 2 interface, thus ensuring the output of
4K game video of one of the most demanding game hardware resources - Crysis 3.
This required the installation of BootCamp and Windows 8, but the results
exceeded all expectations.
It is worth noting that the Mac Pro is one of the
first devices on the market that supports the new Thunderbolt 2 interface,
which allows for 20 Gbit / s bandwidth in each direction, and the total channel
of all ports (there are six of them in the new Mac Pro) is fantastic 48 GB
\from.
The graphics performance of the new computer is based
on two specially designed video cards from AMD with Pitcairn or Tahiti chips,
capable of providing streaming editing of 4K video, and even more so easily
cope with any games. Crysis 3 was not an unfortunate exception - even at the
highest graphics performance, the number of frames per second did not drop
below 40, and on average it adhered to indicators of 40-60 frames / sec.
