Aldi Nord brings desktop PC with Geforce RTX 3080

Medion's Erazer Hunter X10 is equipped with Nvidia's still poorly available ampere GPU. The PC is reminiscent of a high-end gaming system.

The hardware provider Medion will bring a desktop PC to the Aldi Nord online shop in December 2020. It is a midi tower with Nvidia's high-end graphics card Geforce RTX 3080 (test). As a single part, it is currently still more expensive than usual and difficult to deliver.

The GPU should upgrade the Erazer Hunter X10 for 4K games. So far, this model could only be ordered with a Geforce RTX 2080 Super of the previous generation Turing.

Medion configures the system especially for the Aldi offer with Intel Core i9-10900K, which can still be used meaningfully in games with 10 cores and 20 threads.

However, AMD is now building comparable and sometimes more powerful CPUs such as the Ryzen 9 5950X. It is possible that the Vermeer CPUs were not yet available in sufficient quantities when the PC was conceptualized.

32 GB of RAM and many connections

In addition to the RTX 3080 and i9-10900K, 32 GByte DDR4 RAM from HyperX are installed here. This is supplemented by a 1 Tbyte PCIe SSD and an additional 4 Tbyte HDD.

It can be used as an archive for various photos, documents and other data. The components are mounted on the MSI Mpg Z490 Gaming Edge ATX mainboard, which has a total of four RAM banks and six SATA-3 interfaces for additional hard drives and SSDs.

The LAN port is compatible with 2.5 Gbit Ethernet. A WLAN module for Wi-Fi 6 is also included. There are also five USB-A-3.2 Gen1 ports, two USB-2.0-A sockets and a USB-C port (3.2 Gen2) on the back.

The CPU is connected to an Alphacool Eisbaer 240 V2 water cooling system, which in turn is operated on a radiator with three fans. This is useful for overclocking, for example - which is relatively easy to do thanks to the unlocked multiplier of the CPU.

However, the system shouldn't be significantly quieter than a completely air-cooled model.

Medion puts all components in a midi tower from Inwin, whose glass side panel brings out RGB lighting. According to the product images, it is the Inwin 101 with Medion branding.

The right side panel has recesses for better air supply. A front panel with two additional USB sockets is provided on the top. A 750 watt ATX power supply is used for power.

The Erazer Hunter X10 should be available from December 10th in the Aldi Nord online shop. The fully assembled system costs 2,620 euros including delivery costs.
