Not even six months have passed since the release of the
original Oppo Reno series of smartphones, as the company is in a hurry to
present the world the second updated line - the Reno2 and Reno2 Z models. The
European presentation was held in London, the capital of Great Britain.
In the design, the manufacturer did not
fundamentally change anything, retaining all the basic "corporate
features" in the new models. The most noticeable of them: the unusual
retractable angular module "Shark fin" and the proprietary
"pimples" O-Dot on the back wall - everything is in place.
The design itself remained almost unchanged: streamlined
and incredibly well tailored in shape, combination of contours and the quality
of the materials themselves, he managed to win the love of users in the first
generation of Oppo Reno.
And the back surface itself is a protective glass
Gorilla Glass 5, while the front is covered with Gorilla Glass 6. Developers
pay so much attention to the description of the glass itself and its cover that
it can not be said briefly.
Using a three-level processing technology, they created
a shiny, iridescent surface that changes color depending on the viewing
angle. For example, in the “Shining Night” color (Reno2 and Reno2 Z), the
case has an area with a unique nanotexture, which at a certain angle creates
the effect of surface radiance. It looks really pretty.
The special technology of double surface machining
allows for soft overflows. The Ribbon Transfer 2.0 process using a 7-layer
ribbon creates a gradient color transition effect. Light transitions are
formed by superimposing a light-emitting texture layer.
You can also add that the Reno 2 left a 3.5 mm audio
output to the headphones, which is extremely nice. A Type-C is used as the
USB connector, which is also great.
The fingerprint sensor is sub-screen, but it does not
work as an example better than many modern counterparts: quickly and
accurately. Not as fast, of course, as traditional as it is, that is, you
have to hold your finger a little, but still faster than many.
G3 fingerprint recognition technology uses more light
filters that can detect differences in fingerprint patterns. In addition,
recognition is faster: the brightness of the fingerprint reading area is
increased by 16%, and with the screen turned on, the unlock speed is 11.3%
higher.
The flash on the back is incredibly bright: it is double
and can easily illuminate the entire room if necessary.
The AMOLED screen has a diagonal of 6.5 inches, an
aspect ratio of 20: 9, a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels, and occupies 93.1%
of the front surface. The screen is not frameless: the frame on the sides
is about a couple of millimeters wide, but this is still better than any
screens bent to the sides. Here the display is flat, all information is
clearly visible, the edges do not glare.
The maximum brightness is great: the developers
themselves claim 800 nit, but will need to be double-checked in the
laboratory. In any case, the screen is very high quality, neither the
clarity, nor the brightness, nor the viewing angles are the slightest
complaints.
There is an Always On feature. Also, Reno2 is the
first Oppo series of smartphones certified by the TUV Rheinland Full Care
Display.
The camera in Reno 2 is four-module: (48 megapixels
+ 8 megapixels + 13 megapixels + 2 megapixels) with support for 2x optical, 5x
hybrid zoom, as well as 20x digital maximum zoom.
Reno2 provides 5x hybrid zoom thanks to a combination of
three different lenses (wide-angle, main and telephoto lenses with focal
lengths of 16, 26 and 83 mm, respectively).
The optical zoom step is approximately
2x. Additionally, the technology of combining images is used - it allows
you to achieve a smooth increase when zooming. Thus, it is possible to
take more or less clear pictures even from a long distance.
In portrait shooting, the following are supported:
Intelligent beauty mode. The camera determines the
color of the skin taking into account the lighting conditions and ensures the
correct color reproduction. This function can analyze and process up to 4
faces in one shot.
HDR for portrait shooting. In this mode, the HDR
image processing technology effectively reduces the brightness of the
overexposed areas, and insufficiently illuminated areas, on the contrary, make
them brighter. (Supported only by the main camera.)
Bokeh effect in portrait photography. It is
supported by both the main and front cameras. By quickly adjusting the
amount of blur before taking a picture, you can effectively highlight the
subject.
Work in the new Ultra Dark Mode, implemented in Reno2
series smartphones, is provided by a neural processor and Oppo's proprietary
algorithms.
The mode analyzes the level of ambient light and
improves night photos with the help of artificial intelligence. Now night
photos can be taken in 2-2.5 seconds, which is 50% faster than it was in the
Reno series smartphones. This makes Ultra Dark Mode one of the fastest on
the market.
The Reno2 front camera is equipped with a 16 megapixel
sensor and is located on a retractable module in the shape of a shark
fin. The camera allows you to take high-quality pictures in backlight and
supports a new mode of intelligent portrait portions.
The Reno2 Z camera also has a 16 megapixel sensor, but
is located on a module that extends vertically upward. A feature of this
model is the Atmosphere Light adaptive flash.
The selfie cameras in Oppo smartphones are some of the
best on the mobile market, if not the best, and the hand won't tire of praising
them. High detail, true colors and excellent sharpness - that's all in
stock.
But the most admiring is the wide dynamic range, which
allows avoiding overexposures and underexposed portions of the image under any
lighting conditions. In any conditions, self-shots look as high quality as
possible, and this is one of the best “chips” of Oppo smartphones.
The main camera supports shooting 1080P video at 60
frames per second (in 4K it shoots at only 30 fps). And much has been said
here about hybrid image stabilization technology.
In the new Reno smartphones, it is provided thanks to an
inertial measuring unit with a high response frequency and a motion sensor, as
well as through the use of advanced optical and electronic stabilization
systems.
On the other hand, support for shooting at 60 frames per
second also improves video stability, removes jerks, and generally improves
picture quality. All these components together stabilize the video well
even in ultra-wide angle mode with a cropping of 20%, regardless of how much
the camera shakes.
Reno2 Z has a slightly different camera distribution: 48
megapixels (IMX586, electronic stabilization) + 8 megapixels (wide-angle) + 2
megapixels (monochrome) + 2 megapixels (portrait).
Three built-in microphones are designed to block
background noise and increase the clarity of voice recording when shooting
video.
In Atmos mode, all three microphones work simultaneously
to create a surround sound effect, and the sound focus function allows you to
record only what happens directly in front of the smartphone, filtering the
sound coming at an angle to the device. And of course, the “Audio Zoom”
function, familiar from the first-born of Oppo Reno, has not gone anywhere,
increasing the sound volume when increasing the object that makes this sound.
The iron component of Reno2 from the “top middle”:
SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 with six Kryo 470 Silver @ 1.8 GHz processor cores
and two Kryo 470 Gold @ 2.2 GHz and Adreno 618 video accelerator is made using
the 8-nm process technology and is supported by the 8th GB of RAM. 256 GB
of internal storage is allocated for the user's needs.
There is support for memory cards. There are no
problems with performance, it is not redundant, but it is enough for absolutely
any need and smooth playback on the maximum tinctures of the most demanding
mobile games.
At Reno2 Z with this "thinner": MT P90 -
platform, although top-end, but still from MediaTek. It, like Reno2, is
provided with 8 gigabytes of RAM, but the built-in storage is half as much -
128 GB. Both smartphones support Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC. Among the
sensors: magnetic sensor, light sensor, distance sensor, gyroscope, gravity
sensor.
The software component also has some updates. Oppo
has developed a video editing application - SOLOOP, which allows you to quickly
and professionally edit photos and videos. SOLOOP can automatically add
music that matches the timing and transitions of video and / or photos, as well
as identify the contents of albums and offer options for editing and editing.
In general, the Reno2 series smartphones run the ColorOS
6.1 shell based on Android 9.0. The shell with an intuitive interface
supports new control gestures and allows you to use the smartphone with one
hand with even greater convenience. Optimization technologies Touch Boost
2.0, Frame Boost 2.0 and Game Space make the smartphone a full-fledged gaming
device.
All models in the Reno2 series use the VOOC Flash Charge
3.0 safe quick charge system. It works on the basis of the new VFC
algorithm, which significantly reduces the time required for the last 10% of
charging a 4000 mAh battery (the speed of compensating charging is doubled).
